Marking the conclusion of a trilogy of releases from Dexter Kane, SS003 sees the label boss team up with good friend and emerging talent Sybian. As the title of the EP suggests, the tracks somewhat pay homage to the sounds and production techniques of yesteryear. The 303, 808, 909, Juno 106 and Korg M1 litter the soundscape resulting in Deep House sounds almost as classic as the instruments themselves. Gav Memnos’ and August Jakobsen’s expertly crafted remix of ‘(Music) It’s all I have’ encompasses organic house sounds with warm analogue bass resulting in a track that is both current and retro in equal measure. The final mix of the package comes from one of the most under-sung yet prolific engineers of recent times, Michael Jansons. His trademark style can be heard throughout as he adds new dimensions of swing and melody to ‘Looking Back’.
